Why I Went Blonde

Are Blondes Treated Differently?

It’s 2018! New year, new me! LOL. Talk about being adventurous and trying new things. I’ve decided to go through a blonde transformation and see if people treat me differently.

I am a Latina and my real hair color is dark brown. Growing up I always wondered how it feels to be blonde. I tried changing my hair color by trying everything out there: chamomile shampoo, peroxide and even that Sun In spray where you stand in the sun after applying it. (Ummm never again, my hair turned orange instead) I tried everything but never actually had the courage to go to the hair salon and say “turn me blonde”

My frizzy hair needed a makeover.

Part of my fear of going blonde was a fear of what people might say. My skin color is brown so I knew I wouldn’t look like a natural blonde. However, it is much easier to be an ethnic blonde today because almost all celebrities and trendy girls are doing it. Your skin color doesn’t matter anymore. Thank you Beyonce and Rita Ora for making it sexy and popular!

Most people out there will give you mixed advice but if you really want to step out of your comfort zone, even if its just to say you did it, go for it. Once you get over something you once feared, you will think you can accomplish many more things you are afraid of. Even if it’s something simple as changing your hair.

Here are some funny pics of my hair dying process. This took about 6 hours! CRAZY!

My blonde transformation is almost there. Color done but need toning and other stuff lol.

So Are Blondes Treated Worse or the same as Brunettes?

Back to my little experiment…. Do blondes really get more attention? YES!!! The difference in the way that people treated me was astonishing. I am naturally a shy person and hate attention but I went through this transformation as a way to get over a fear. From the moment I walked out of the hairdresser to go get a bite to eat (after the long 6 hour process), I could feel all eyes on me. Specially from Men! So ladies if you’re looking for a man, GO BLONDE! Jk, LOL.

The takeaway message here is to not be afraid to try new things. Sometimes it’s all in your head. People could care less what color your hair is or if you got ran over by the next bus. They will just go on with their lives. The most important thing is how do you feel after accomplishing something you were once afraid of.
