The Benefits of Microneedling

microneedling

Hey there! High five on caring about your skin. Being a health and beauty fan, I immediately jumped on the bandwagon when I heard that Microneedling helps with acne. I’ve always battled with some acne around my cheeks and forehead. After making some lifestyle changes and adding microneedling to my beauty routine, my skin has improved a lot. The best part about at-home microneedling is you don’t have to spend tons of dollars at the dermatologist, you can simply do this from the comfort of your home.

What is Microneedling?

You might have heard the word “microneedling” before. Microneedling is a dermaroller procedure that uses small needles to prick the skin. This procedure increases the production of collagen and other healing factors by causing trauma to the skin. One of the key benefits is reducing acne.

Benefits for Acne

There are different causes for acne and that means that there is no one single solution for everyone. The key is to try many things and see what works for you.

I collaborated with Banish for this blogpost but they gave me some time to try the products and make sure they did help me. Microneedling helped me in improving my skin texture and acne scars.

Whatever your acne severity is, you might want to give microneedling a try. Microneedling may help with:

  • acne
  • scarring
  • collagen production
  • wrinkles
  • stretch marks
  • rosacea
  • rejuvenate skin

Banish Starter Kit

I tried out the Banish Starter Kit from Banish.com. I stand by this brand because it was founded by a young woman who battled with acne all her life. After finding no solution, she decided to create her own. The Banish Starter Kit comes with everything you need for your at-home procedure.

The main tool is the Banisher 2.0which is the tool with the 0.5mm needles. This one differs from most microneedling tools because it doesn’t need to be rolled. Rather, you lightly press it on your skin and allow the needles to penetrate. This is less harsh and might even be better if this is your first time. I loved it because it was less scary than the ones you need to roll. The banisher 2.0 is made with gold plated titanium bristles, which helps in keeping bacteria away.

My started kit also came with more goodies including the banish oil that you put on after the process. The oil tingles a little but the pain is worth it. Your skin will thank you for it in the next couple of days. I also used the pumpkin mask which is packed with AHAs and BHAs that are natural exfoliators. My favorite was the charcoal clay mask which acts like a magnet to absorb oils and impurities. My skin is on the oily side so this was perfect!

Microneedling at Home

Microneedling at home can be an awesome experience. I love being able to relax and watch Netflix while my mask is on or just the fact that I don’t have to go out in the sun after the procedure, is great. (which is recommended not to do). Plus, your skin will be a little red and you can’t wear makeup for 8 hours so why not call it a “beauty & Netflix” kinda day.

How many Times Should You do Microneedling?

It is recommended to do this once a week. I usually set my Sundays for “beauty days” where I focus on my skin and relax.

Health + Acne

You probably already know this but your health is the most important thing when dealing with acne. I don’t mean just eating healthy foods and exercising but also what’s going on in your life. Are you dealing with family issues, work issues, weight gain, bad relationships, depression, negative thoughts, etc.

It is important to analyze your life and make sure you are not slowly killing yourself. Stress is the #1 killer and it reveals itself in many ways. One of them being acne. Sometimes you are your worst enemy. Make changes in your life that make you happy. Try and see the bad things as lessons for you to grow.

The Banisher Starter Kit could be a great start to taking your health and skin more seriously. You don’t need to spend on any extra products because the kit comes with all that you need including a moisturizer and cleanser.

PS: Did I mention that these products are all-natural, vegan, and cruelty-free.Yup!!!
