My favorite Museum!
I just discovered The Broad Museum. It is a contemporary art museum in downtown LA. I love discovering new places and gaining inspiration. The best part of my trip was when I found out they had huge displays of one of my favorite illustrators. I got super excited and couldn’t wait to go check it out.
Takashi Murakami is the best!
The Broad Museum feautres lots of pieces by Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. He is one of the biggest names in the contemporary art world. His work is immediately recognizable for its popping, candylike colors and anime-esque aesthetic. I love the colors and creative energy that I get from each piece. Murakami is considered the founder of the postmodern art movement “Superflat,” which combines the graphic practices of contemporary Japanese culture with the flattening print and painting traditions of its rich past.
This 8 foot painting is called “In the Land of the Dead, Stepping on the Tail of a Rainbow”. The meaning behind this painting is the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and subsequent tsunami in Japan. Murakami, through the post–World War II lens of Japan’s pervasive pop culture, again revived the arhats. What is an arthat? Well in simplified terms and Arhat is one who is worthy. A perfected person, one who has gained insight into the true nature of existence and has achieved nirvana or spiritual enlightenment.
“To me, unconventional thinking is approaching a problem and asking, ‘Why not? Why can’t something be done?’ If someone can’t give me a good reason why you can’t do something, I find a way to do it.”

The Broad Museum loves Jeff Koons
Another one of my favorite installations is Ballon Dog by Jeff Koons. I am obsessed with his colorful pieces. Jeff Koons is an American artist known for reproductions of banal objects such as balloon animals produced in stainless steel with mirror-finish surfaces.
In love with the simplicity of this painting. This one here is the Mondrian Layout by dutch painter Piet Mondrian. My inspiration for many design layouts. Most magazines use this as a template for their magazines.
I hope you got to learn about my favorite art pieces and a little about the artist. If you are more into contemporary art take a look at my THE MET blog post. You will surely enjoy that one. All these gorgeous photos where taken on my GOOGLE PIXEL XL phone which I absolutely love. It takes great quality photos and shoots video in 4K. Check it out. madeby.google.com
